A Little About Houston, TX
Houston is an incredible mix of rich history and modern energy. As the largest city in Texas, Houston, and its busy port attract major businesses and corporations that keep the local and state economy extremely strong. In addition, Houston’s infrastructure is strengthened by three major airports.
Not only is Houston the state’s largest city, but Houston is also the 4th most populous city in the nation with a population of nearly 2.5 million people. The city takes pride in the fact that it’s the most ethnically diverse metropolitan area in the United States. At least 145 languages are spoken by Houston residents, according to the city.
Neighborhood Guide
The city is broken up into dozens of different neighborhoods, each with its own local flavor. Most areas are designated as either being inside or outside the “Loop” which is what locals call Interstate 610. Inside the Loop (or Inner Loop), you’ll find some of the city’s most popular neighborhoods. In the Southwest area of Houston, you’ll find Bellaire which boasts tree-lined streets, lots of parks to enjoy, and award-winning schools. Its central location makes convenient commuting to Texas Medical Center, Galleria, Downtown, and Energy Corridor.
If you’re looking for gated communities or luxury high-rise condos, then Briar Hollow is a good neighborhood to check out. East of Downtown or EaDo is great for those wanting to live downtown, and be close to the major employers, freeways, and entertainment. Northwest Houston boasts older planned communities, tree-lined streets with quaint bungalows, and neighborhoods like the Heights, and Garden Oaks.
Diverse neighborhoods make up the Northeast side of Houston with more affordable housing and communities focused on redevelopment like the Fifth Ward which has a deep cultural history.
